DUPR: Why should you have one!

Getting a DUPR rating is a great way to track your skill level and see yourself improve in real time! Not only can you look back at your match history, but you can connect with your friends to encourage each other’s progress! Plus, your DUPR rating is your pass to having more fun on court!
DUPR is a nationally recognized rating system that can help you find the right place for you to be competitive in any pickleball community! Like here at Smithfield, many places around the nation use DUPR ratings to organize open plays, events, and leagues. Recording your match scores into DUPR means you can go anywhere and know exactly who you’d enjoy playing with based on your skill level!

Getting your DUPR rating is simple at Smithfield TPC:
Step 1: Create your DUPR account (you can do so through this link!)
Step 2: Create a reservation at STPC with your friend’s “STPC DUPR Match” option or sign up for our weekly Thursday DUPR nights
Step 3: Come for your reservation and we will have the score sheet ready for you! After you are finished, turn in the sheet to the front desk and we will input the scores through the club!
Step 4: Keep playing and recording scores to get your rating and track your progress!
Community: Finding Friends on Court!

Joining a community when none of your friends or family are involved can be an isolating step to take, but in the Cedar Rapids community, racquet sports are alive and welcoming! Getting your foot in the door is the best way to find your place in pickleball and tennis!
If you are looking to meet people to play and practice with, Smithfield TPC has Pickleball Open Play/Drop-In Play and Tennis Leagues that don’t require you to bring a partner! These events are ranked by skill to help bring out the best competition. Signing up for clinics is another way to find community with others also trying to improve and learn!

Talking to your match partners or court-mates is a great time to get to know people and invite them to play! Get their phone numbers or email and find time to practice or play together! Learning with others through private court play can help improve your skill, target difficult shots or strokes, and create great memories with friends!
Leagues, parties, and events!
The holidays are one of our favorite times at STPC! Seeing old faces mixed with new ones and enjoying holiday parties & friendly shenanigans! We loved seeing the many holiday parties hosted in the new lounge and seeing families bring their children and loved ones to play together!

At the end of 2025, two leagues completed their play: the Fall Women’s Invitational Pickleball League and a Fall Recreational Pickleball League. Both groups met weekly and enjoyed fun, friendly competition that spurred new friendships and some great points!
We can’t wait to see what 2026 brings to our facility and we look forward to enjoying time on court with you all!
Happy New Year!
